We were delighted to welcome back Cranfield alumnus and Senior Vice President of Marketing for Airbus, Francois Caudron, for this year's prestigious Handley Page lecture.
The lecture, entitled “Airbus: Success through Innovation”, was presented by Monsieur Francois Caudron, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Airbus held recently. Monsieur Caudron has strong links to Cranfield University, having studied on the MSc in Aircraft Design (now Aerospace Vehicle Design) in 1989.
The Handley Page annual lecture is jointly sponsored by the Cranfield College of Aeronautics Alumni Association (CCAAA) and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS).
This year it was held in Cranfield University’s Vincent Auditorium, to coincide with the University’s 70th anniversary celebrations. The lecture honours the late Sir Frederick Handley-Page, one of aviation’s pioneers and strong supporter of the College of Aeronautics and Cranfield University.
Professor John Fielding, Chair of the CCAAA, introduced the speaker, Monsieur Francois Caudron, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Airbus. He gave a fascinating lecture on the past, present and future innovative technologies used by Airbus to advance the aerospace industry.
After a lively question time, the Vote of Thanks was proposed by the University’s Head of Aerospace, Professor Iain Gray. The audience was boosted by a large number of current College of Aeronautics students. Following the lecture Monsieur Caudron, accompanied by his wife, then attended a VIP dinner attended by the Vice-Chancellor, President of the RAeS and a number of senior alumni. The whole event was a great success, and afforded technical insight, networking opportunities and much enjoyment by all.
