As the model of lifetime continuous employment breaks down, more and more of us are taking career breaks. Sometimes these are positive: a chance to reflect and recharge. Sometimes breaks are forced upon us.

Whatever your situation a career break represents both an opportunity and a threat.

In this webinar we will look at different models of career breaks and investigate how people can best use a period away from work.

We will examine

  • Three different models of sabbatical
  • When career breaks work best and for whom
  • How to end a long break and get back to work
  • How to derisk options and negotiate with your employer
  • Using a career break to explore new career options

Alumni are also invited to trial AlumniExtra, a global careers portal for international alumni and executive students, until May 2024. Users can access a range of exclusive careers webinars with Sensible Media and the world's leading careers experts and management thinkers. New webinars are added to AlumniExtra every quarter that address topics including:

  • Herminia Ibarra on changing career at 30, 40 and 50+,
  • Carter Cast on avoiding career derailment,
  • Dave Evans on designing your career,
