An ICO is a way that is being used to raise funds for a new venture. New Companies effectively use their future product as a crypto currency in order to raise the money to fund the development for business. They might raise the money in Bitcoin, or something similar. It is said that in 2017 over $3.5bn was raised this way, so it is probably worth understanding!
