Alumni are invited to join Dr Rosina Watson MA (Oxon) PhD, Senior Lecturer in Sustainability Strategy, School of Management, for an online webinar.

Join us in this session where Dr Rosina Watson will:

- Explore the interconnected social and environmental risks facing society and business

- Highlight the ways in which the experience of dealing with Covid-19 could help businesses respond positively, and more sustainably to these risks

- Reflect on what this means for leadership in the 2020s and beyond

Corporate sustainability is about creating long-term shareholder and societal value by embracing the opportunities and managing the risks associated with economic, environmental and social developments.

The Covid-19 crisis is bringing into sharp relief some of the trends that a focus on corporate sustainability was already bringing to light.

It is forcing companies to demonstrate what they actually do to contribute to society; and we have seen companies show their true colours – what they actually stand for (or don’t!) - through their responses to the unfolding crisis.

It is making it unavoidably clear that business operate in a wider system, and that the planet is finite and fragile place that we all share. It has revealed the need for partnerships between business, governments and people to achieve an effective response.

It has shown that we need to be better prepared to respond to risk, and plan for how our businesses can use their resource to provide solutions.

It has accelerated the transition to virtual working and socialising. And it has forced many of us to slow down and reflect on what we really need to be content.

This webinar will explore how businesses might learn from these lessons in order to ‘build back better’ after the crisis, and what qualities leaders will need to do this.
