Programme & speakers

Simon Lawson, Chairman of Lawsons, (MBA, 1988), will be explaining how the themes of Leadership, Communication and Vulnerability have shaped his vision and has allowed Lawsons to be a profitable business that is still centred on what the people need out of it, rather than what shareholders, or the stock market, or the pension fund wants out of it.

Simon is Chairman of Lawsons Timber, Building & Fencing Supplies, the largest independ- ent Timber, Building Materials & Fencing merchants in London and the South East; and also one of the most profitable in the builders merchant sector. The family business was founded in North London in 1921 as a fencing contractor/merchant by Simon's grandfather and great-grandfather and was the first to sell fencing materials cut to length and ready treated. Lawson's mission to ‘make work as interesting and satisfying as possible', puts the well being and happiness of its 450 employees firmly at the centre of the firm's culture.
